Mozi is all about celebrating the cozy, wholesome flavors of my Brazilian roots, completely guilt-free.
I’m Jana, born and raised in the Northeast of Brazil, where food is a big part of who we are and how we love.
After going vegan, I missed the comforting flavors of home deeply, so I set out to recreate them, now plant-based and full of soul.
The ingredients in the Mozi kitchen keep me grounded in that heritage: cashews, coconuts, and rice. I was born into a world of them, and it’s an honor to turn these ingredients into plant-based creations for everyone to enjoy. Love language, they say! From my first lime pie to my no-chicken empada, I realized I could still make it all - just better, vegan and mostly gluten-friendly (if it tastes just as good, why not?)
Since then, the sky’s been the limit. These days, you’ll find not only Brazilian dishes at my market stand, but also South American favorites (hi, alfajores!) and global comfort classics that are beloved in Brazil too.
Mozi was born from a deeply personal journey. One that began at rock bottom and grew from a desire to connect (and reconnect) with myself, my roots, and the world around me.
You know that friend who’s always baking or cooking, who doesn’t need more than a hint to bring you cake, because that’s how they show love? That’s the spirit of Mozi. Warm, generous, sometimes a little chaotic, and unapologetically full of life.
I don’t aim for perfection, and I am definitely not a clean-cut minimalist baker (in the kitchen or in life). What I do aim for is creating food that brings joy, comfort, flavour, and love. For us and mostly, for all animals.
